Mitchum's take on a washed-up old pisshead is far superior to Dean Martin's in the earlier Rio Bravo.
Although both took their Method acting style research to extremes. What pros.
I have to say, as a film Rio Bravo's better, but I agree totally with you on Mitchum.
Still, I reckon it was one of Dean's finest acting moments.
