J G Ballard

Picked up a fistful of Ballard in Bideford at the weekend. Ah, I just love his post-apocalypseness, and he was pretty good at pre-apocalypse stuff too. Shamefully I shall be selling these, partly due to lack of shelf space and mostly due to the fact that they're 1sts.
I've always hankered for a good Mad Max 2 type scenario, I've got it all figured out, where to go, what to wear (See Below)...all I really need is a couple of reliable guns.

Roll Away The Stone

Went down to Yeovil at the weekend to celebrate Kek Shirt's 25th birthday and a fine time we had. Shirt's Shed was a boogie rainbow of Mott The Hoople, UFO, John Cale, The Sweet & The Fall. It was an ace night of the highest calibre and I drank half a bottle of Jim Beam and am still experiencing The Shakes today.
On the way home Sunday morning I found a Little Chef that still has a smoking area.

Bristol

Going up Bristol way next week to visit Mr Webb for a half a shandy with a Cinzano Bianco chaser, and am planning on some book poaching while I'm there.
So, if Kek Shirt or Doppledude (or anybody else for that matter) know of any out of the way paperback oasises (?), would appreciate any insider knowledge.

The New Fucking Seekers

Talking of The New Seekers, they popped up on TOTP2 tonight, lighting up an otherwise duff evening, although the programme was marred by the appearance of Uber-Twats Cliff Richard & Van The Van Morrison singing about being bum-fucked by Jesus, and Electro-Cunt Gary Numan, aka The Man Who Killed Music singing about, well, nothing.
..And it's still better than having Dr Who on.

999

Ahhh. I'm sure they're still out there touring Poland. Recently downloaded 'Homicide' from Virgin only to find it was an 'alternative' version. I hate it when that happens.
Still, 'Beg, Steal Or Borrow' by The New Seekers was spot on.

Hannie Caulder / 100 Rifles

Especially for St Anthony, a couple of Raquel Welch movie tie-ins. I've actually got the book of Bandolero! somewhere, but fucked if I can find it.
Hannie Caulder also stars the Uber -Cool Robert Culp of I-Spy, plus Christopher Lee, Ernest Borgnine & Strother Martin. It's a must-see vengeance fest that's a fuck of a lot better than Kill Bill. Mind you, pretty much anything is better than Kill Bill.

Trailer

If I crawl out from under my Apathy Duvet in time tomorrow, I'm going to do a Top Ten.
As I'm pretty much out of genres, expect the Bleedin' Obvious.

Woolacombe Sands

Well, if I had any doubts about moving to the coast, being on Woolacombe beach yesterday reminded me why we came here.
That and an email from an ex work colleague informing me that had I stayed at the BBC our team Away Day this month would have been a trip to the Salvation Army Cafe. Wow, really wish I fucking stuck around for that.

The Furies

Giant wasps in Salisbury. Nice.

Fuck This

Ex-Pat Toby found this fucker in his garden the other day...which
vividly explains why I shall fucking never visit him in Oz.
