The Octopus 99 Review Of 2005

Lost was a crock of shit.
To all the people that regularly informed me that it 'gets really good if you stay with it': You're Morons.

Happy Crapmas

Well, that was Crap. I had just got in from work on Xmas Eve and I immediately became Ill. Literally, I walked in the front fucking door for my first Christmas off in four years and was struck down with a virus before I had stepped on the living room carpet. My fever lasted exactly two and a half days, so when I returned to work on Tuesday I was fine.
TV was crap. Jesus, though, it really was crap. There was absolutely nothing on..and don't say 'Ooo..what about Dr Who?' What about him? He's a cunt. So's Shrek.
We dug out a tape of The Golden Voyage Of Sinbad & watched that.
On Boxing Day they pulled The Poseidan Adventure just because of some fucking tsunami that happened, like, a year ago. It only starts off with a Giant Wave - what's the problem?.
Girls Aloud live was very weak. Bad miming, but they did do Teenage Dirtbag.
The best bit of Christmas this year was being driven to Homebase on Tuesday morning by Greg to find the place deserted and with 25% off laminate flooring. How very.

David Pelham Covers

The Terminal Beach.

Just a couple of examples of David Pelham cover art for Dan. Pelham also did some Philip Jose Farmer covers in the 60s/70s too, I believe. This one's particularly groovy.

Grizzly

One of the great post Jaws movies. Found this for 10p today..been looking for the film for years, but the book is a good alternative. Gut-crunching, man-eating terror at its finest.
Heard Kenneth Bulmer has passed on - a great pulp / science fiction master who'll be sorely missed - more over on Kidshirt.

They Shoot Horses, Don't They?

Today I seem to be suffering from a monumental hangover.
It was Lurch's birthday and I really didn't think I had drunk that much. I do seem to remember singing along to Public Image quite enthusiastically. And I think Lurch liked his Iron Man Hulkbuster action figure.
Toby turned up pissed from his work Xmas do where apparently his boss tried to thump him.
Anyway, it was a good night, despite being in the West End on a Friday (ie: standing up all fucking night and paying way too much money for lager) - but really - I don't think I drank that much.
So I've wasted today feeling like a soft turd and the only constructive things I've managed to do are download Biology by The G.A. and buy two giant tins of Celebrations (2 for £10 - Fuckin A).
Now I'm watching The X Factor - this is because I don't have the energy to pick up the remote - and I kind of want Journey South to win because they're such stuck in the fucking eighties pub-band cunts.
Anyway, the snooker's on soon, so I'll be greasing myself up for that.
I don't know what relevancee the picture has other than - JC - Who's the artist?
PS: Does anyone else think that the little kiddie G.A. fans might be confused by the fact that Biology has no chorus?

Bad Santa

Trust me..it may have derailed Billy Bob Thornton's career..but Bad Santa is fucking great.

Yvonne Craig

Umm..er..Fuck it, no reason for posting this whatsoever.

Oops

Might be needing a new cat.
Thanks JC for the pic.

Any Excuse

Saw Fantastic Four the other day. Not bad. Not the best film I've ever seen, but not bad. Jessica Alba's in it, so it's fine.
Also saw The Descent - which is really fucking intense. Recommended even though it's British.
And The Cave - avoid like The Plague.

Ah, More Presents.

Cheers Kek, for this and the Moorcocks, mucho appreciato. I'm well into reading Elric stuff at the moment - though I have no idea of the order they're supposed to be read in. Just finished The Sleeping Soceress, which features The Noose Of Flesh, a particularly unpleasant way to die.
The Wild Bunch, a gore fest of the best kind. I shall watch it as soon as I'm over Wednesday's Uber-Hangover, it'll kill me if I watch it feeling this grim.

There Is Nothing Wrong With Your Television Set

Super-Cool. Thanks Lurch.

Oh, God I'm Old

Possibly THE birthday card from yesterday. Thanks Toby.
