Friday Night TV

Just a note that Sci Fi is showing V - The Series and Logan's Run from 8.00pm on fridays. Ah, worship the channel that's given up buying crap new stuff and has returned to the cheap, retro place where it belongs.

Slither

Watched Slither last night - a truly funny/gruesome B-Movie. A kind of cross between Squirm and Dawn Of The Dead. Check it out, it's ace.

So, anyway, I just got in, and I'm so proud of myself for not getting one of those poisonous burgers by the tube on the way home, but I actually went back fucking out and got one. Oh, well, what you gonna do?
Been drinking to filthy levels with The Webster. Turns out he's moving to Bristol next thursday. Good on him. What could possibly go wrong with that descision?

Valley Of The Gwangi

Finally got hold of the Ray Harryhausen classic cowboys vs. dinosaurs movie. Ah, I think that's this afternoon sorted out. Also got hold of The Doll Squad, the cover of which is too crap to post, Ted V Mikel's 70's fluff fest that inspired Charlie's Angels. In fact Mikel apparently sued Aaron Spelling for ripping him off.

I Thought I Was Dead But I Was Just In Manchester

Well, I survived Manchester, though only just. I was working overnight mostly, which meant I had most of the day to wander around. Man, that is one Shite city centre. If you don't fancy a Subway, then you basically can't eat..and there's absolutely no fucking charity shops. Unless you think of the whole place as one giant charity shop.
I did find a handful of secondhand bookshops, but they were so expensive I didn't really buy anything. They were more expensive than London West End book shops. I actually laughed out loud in one of them. Jesus, no wonder the place got Blowed Up.
On top of that, after the launch night the Exec Producer took me and a few others to a place called The Press Club where we started drinking at 5am. Now, I don't consider myself a snob, but this place was rank. As we walked to the bar our feet stuck to the carpet like glue. The DJ was on the stage actually singing along to what he was playing. Small, 50+ year-old moustached men in vests growled at us for interupting their attempts to cop off with similar aged female things as we walked by. It was a war crime of a place.
When we first went in the bouncer told us 'no mobile phone photographs'. Oh no! I mean what the fuck are you going to photograph? A murder? A gang rape? The DJ singing along with his music?
Still, a drink is hard to come by at that time in the morning and we went there every morning after coming off air. One does what one must.
My hotel room did have a picture of Lee Van Cleef on the wall.

PS Many thanks to Pulpmania / Hot Cherry for getting in touch. Note to self: Don't Post Drunk.

I'm off to Manchester in the morning for five/six days, so I'll leave you Locklear & Loaded. Here's hoping I don't get Stabbed or Shot or generally Killed.

Tomb Of The Cyberdudes

As some of you might know, I'm not a big Dr Who fan (particularly the recent shit that seems to be a Billie Piper soap opera) - but I do really like The Cybermen, well, the old school ones anyway.

Gray Morrow

As the great Gray Morrow was included in the great Kidshirt's latest post, I thought I'd put up some of his Perry Rhodan covers from the 70s. He was just really good at old style robots & stuff like that.

Fuck! I just got in (pretty pissed), and Night Of The Comet is on, which is possibly the best film ever made, but it's halfway through and I've fucking missed it and the picture above is fron Starcrash and I'm just so confused. But I've got a really good idea for a Top Ten, but if I tell you you'll know and then what fun would that be and Dragon's Den has finished and I've got to go to Madchester for five days and what the fuck goes on there and I could have fucking sworn there was a Cornetto in the freezer and that bloke from Top Gear..is he OK and how are we doing in the Ryder Cup ..oh, me go bed now.

TV Tie-Ins

More from my Book Palace haul.

Pulps And Stuff

Not in anyway attempting to compete with Kek W's recent haul, but I went to the Book Palace Fair at the weekend and picked up a few gems. Unfortunately what used to be a really good book fair is now 90% comics & trading cards and there was only two proper book stalls. I've nothing against comics, but it's a totally different crowd, man.
Still, managed to come away with about 20 books, so not bad for a couple of hours in the West End.

Happy Birthday Niowulf

Niowulf gets the Dark Side treatment. I hope he's OK.

At Last...Eight Below

Eight Below finally came out yesterday, an absolute work of genius. It's just a Husky Holocaust. Possibly the best film I've seen since Nick Fury: Agent Of Shield.

Famous People I Met This Morning

Well now, I met Al Gore, Oliver Stone and Brent Spiner this morning.
Gore was ok, though he kind of moved around in slow motion. Apparently he's trying to save the planet or something.
And Stone was, well, alright I suppose, if you like that sort of thing. He worryingly announced that he's just done a 3hr 40min cut of Alexander..I mean, Jesus, didn't he get the message when it came out? Nobody gives a Shit.
Stood at the back of the studio slagging him off with Spiner, now that was cool.

It Wasn't My Fault

Steve Irwin died this morning.
Now, I wasn't a big fan of The Crocodile Hunter and his contemporaries, certainly not enough to go searching for a picture of him, but it was just weird that Niowulf, me and our wives were discussing him just the other night and saying how cool it would be if one of these guys died annoying a snake or poking a gila monster.
I think we might of Voodoo'd that fucking stingray into stabbing him.
Oh, well.

Top 10 Hammer Films

The Plague Of Zombies (1966).

She (1965).

Rasputin The Mad Monk (1966).

The Satanic Rites Of Dracula (1974).

Doctor Jekyll And Sister Hyde (1971).
Quatermass 2 (1957).

Frankenstein Created Woman (1967).

The Reptile (1966).

When Dinosaurs Ruled The Earth (1970).

The Legend Of The Seven Golden Vampires (1974).

God, but I love Hammer films. I could have done the whole thing with just pictures of Peter Cushing & Christopher Lee, but I thought that might be a little anal. Anal, me? God forbid.

Anyway, tell me which films these ten puppies are. Get all ten and win a bottle of Blue Stratos.

Doctor Fate / Batman
